SPICY LIT NIGHT CAP: WORD PLAY: Piquant

Tonight's word is all about "Piquant."

It's a word that describes something with a pleasantly sharp taste or with a spicy taste.

For any of you who may be writing a cookbook or creating a scene in your story where your character is on a dinner date and eating something very tasty then this is the word for you.

Using this word can definitely add dimension, spice, sharpness, zest and even a pleasant kick to your wording in your story or as you dress up your recipes in your cookbook.

Being creative as we all know starts with your basics and then building on those basics to take your creativity further and further as you progress in your writing.

Learning new words like "Piquant" can give you not only new knowledge of a new word, but can also help build a great story or finish your story around that word.

Remember, take the time to learn new words and their meaning. Then take it a step further to learn what their synonyms and antonyms are so that your writing can not only reflect your creativity but great intelligence to.

ONE WORD: Death

Death...it's apart of life and it keeps us on the quest of doing everything we can to live forever.

There are so many stories written about death.  Those stories reveal it many scenes, forms and fashions that as a writer we are always fascinated with it over and over again.

So; for the one word post today, take time and ponder about "death."

Create a flash fiction story about it or create a moving poetic piece.

Once you do that, take it and share it with your many readers or gain inspiration from it to expand a scene in your next novel. Whatever you do; just write and experiment with words in ways that you have never done before.

ONE WORD: Fierce!

Sometimes it takes one word to get us in the groove to keep our creative think tank going.  That one word can be the mark for a great story, a poem that rocks the world or a short story that speaks to many readers in so many ways that's just a freak of nature.

As you take your creativity to the next level, take on the "one word" exercise and turn your story inside out or gain something that's so amazing, you don't want to put down your pen.

Be "Fierce" in your writing and be "Fierce" in your storytelling.

ONE WORD; Fire!

FIRE AND ICE BY Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

*I love this piece. Take it let it inspire you to write something that's "fire."*

SITTING IN SILENCE IS TRUE INSPIRATION

We all meditate at some point throughout the day.

We do it by sitting for 30 minutes in silence, or taking a second to get our thoughts together or even while we are on a bathroom break.  However we do it, we do it.

For my writers out there who want some inspiration for your next story, sitting in silence can bring you a great story or bring new elements to your existing story.

It's about truly being in tune with your breathing and all the elements that is around you.  Your breath is like music coming out of you.  Every time you think of something in your mind, your breath is the beat to that sound track being played.

Keeping that in mind; it really allows you to bring forth all of your senses to the forefront so that you can box it up and see it for what it truly is.

With that ladies and gentlemen, you have true inspiration that you can shape in to whatever you like, however you like.

Take that true inspiration and incorporate it into your next story or begin a new story off of the beat to your natural soundtrack.

Unwind with your pen

The pen to us writers is our comfort.  It helps us to unload a lot of bs and hot mess that we've gone through in our daily lives or in life period.

The love that writer's should have with their pen should be monogamous and complete.  We should love it like it's the love of our lives.

For the writer's out there that have fallen out of love with their pen; please take moment and pick it up and get reacquainted, so that you can get back into your writing with love and true creativity.

NEW YEAR-TIME TO GET CRACKIN!

Happy New Year!!

We are still here holding our pen and we hope you are to.

2012 was a great year and we did get a lot accomplished, but now this is a brand new year.

For the new year we hope that all writers find their creative energy so they can strive to complete their writing goals.

In striving for those writing goals, we hope that all of you take the time to really hone in on your writing craft.  It's important that you the "writer" get "crackin" this year so that you can achieve your writing goals.  Being a writer is much more than holding a pen, it's love, soul, and a love for the written word. If you have those things, you have a good start.

Along with having all of those things, we hope that you are always keeping your head in the books, and studying different types of writing and literature. It's what's going to turn you into the writer that you ultimately want to be and will help you achieve your writing goals in 2013.

So with that, it's 2013 so it's time to pick up your pen and get "CRACKIN!"
